how they met
Next »
Tim and Tiff were in high school when they met. It was a very unusual and very prolonged courtship. They went to different high schools, but Tiff was good friends with Tim's cousin, Vivian. One day, she noticed a picture of a handsome boy (yes that was Tim!) on her friend's school binder. Vivian decided to play matchmaker and gave Tiff's AIM screen name to Tim. Lo and behold, they hit it off! But not like you think...
See, Tiff was at that time, just beginning to come to an end of a "serious" relationship. "Serious" here in high school time meant almost two years of dating. But, after a few months of talking and chatting, Tim finally decided to ask Tiff if they could meet. Up until now, he had no idea what she even looked like! What a brave guy--asking a girl out on a blind date in the truly literal sense. So he picked her up from work to go to lunch, and they immediately felt a spark. For a few wonderful weeks after, they enjoyed just getting to know each other on a deeper level. So you'd think this is where they begin to live happily ever after. Alas, the story goes on. Despite having a real connection, timing was not on their side. Due to some misunderstandings, they decided to part and go their own ways.

Fast forward nearly two years: Tiff was a single gal, enjoying a freshman year at OSU. Tim had gotten in and out of a relationship, and took the big move to Seattle. Vivian, ever the matchmaker, kept Tim continuously updated about Tiff. Neither had spoken or written a word to each other in that entire time. One day, a tiny thought popped into Tiff's head that wouldn't go away--she kept thinking about Tim, curious as to how he was doing. She couldn't shrug the thought which was strange, since she hadn't spared him a moment in nearly two years. (Maybe Someone else was at work playing matchmaker too =P) Coincidentally (or not, you decide) Tim had included Tiff in an email he sent with all his updated contact information in Seattle. She dug it out, and somehow summoned up the courage to IM him. Clever girl that she is, she left a message while he was away--you know, to avoid direct confrontation. That night, he responded, and happily this time the rest is history. Tim and Tiff became TnT from that moment on and have never looked back!
the proposal
« Previous | Next »We promise we'll have our own accounts of the proposal soon, but we're busy planning the wedding. Luckily for those that didn't know what happened, Junebug Weddings featured us on their site, so take a look!:

"The morning Tiffany's boyfriend Tim went missing, she received a Mission Impossible style video on her iPhone. Her mission, which she chose to accept, was to find Tim somewhere in Las Vegas armed with only a map and a list of clues. As she followed the directions left by a mysterious stranger on the video, she found herself on a scavenger hunt filled with her favorite people, places and things. At each turn along the way she was directed to call a close friend and get the next clue. Her fun-filled adventure led her to a brand new dress, spa treatments, and an array of special gifts and goodies. Near the end of the day, Tiffany was blindfolded and taken by limousine to Lake Las Vegas. When the spy who had escorted her removed her blindfold, the first thing she saw was Tim, the mastermind behind it all, down on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage. With so much thought and love behind his proposal there was no way she could refuse him, in fact all she could think about was saying YES!
Thank goodness that her tricky friends included Grace Kim of GH Kim Photography, who was in on it all along, or we wouldn’t have proof of this ingenious plot."

I am so excited and hopeful to be getting married and becoming Mrs. Tim Nguyen. Those of you that know me know that I'm a hopeless romantic---always watching Chinese and Korean dramas, and reading Jane Austen books. Well, real life may not be as sentimental and perfect as movies or books, but it's phenomenally sweeter and more meaningful. I look back on the person I was when Tim and I started dating and the person I am now, and I smile. From my confidence, to my joy, to my spiritual walk, I've become stronger and more firm in who I am and what I believe---and that's because I've been loved by Tim. We've been through some pretty rough times, been hurtful, been angry, and been outright ugly. But, we've always been able to regroup and grow, together. Tim's taught me how to truly love somebody and as important, how to be a friend. I love his humor, his kindness, his loyalty, his heart, and as a bonus, his awesome tech support skills! We always strive to honor God in our relationship as He teaches us patience (lots of it), joy, and faith in each other and in Him. I just feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I'm so excited to share that special day with all the people that I love and who make a difference in my life. It's gonna be a Nguyenware party no one will forget! November 22nd can't come soon enough!

Wow, it's been over five years running and I'm happy to say that we're still going strong. Most of you know that I'm more of a talker than I am a writer, so I'll try to express how I feel the best I can in words.
I'm so excited to be able to finally marry the woman of my dreams. I'm truly glad to have found Tiff (or she found me depending on who you hear from), I don't think anyone else in the world can understand me the way she does. I'm also glad that I will be able to continue our lives together protecting her, providing for her, and making her laugh (although I know shes only laughing because she loves me). We've definetly had our share of ups and downs, but for each down we've learned only to go higher on the ups. She has always been my companion, my partner in crime, and my best friend. I can truly say that because of Tiff I have become a better man. I can't wait till the big wedding day!
